Amos Q. Haviv is a software developer, technical consultant, and the creator of MEAN.IO and MEAN.JS. He has been a full-stack developer for almost a decade and worked for multiple start-ups and enterprise companies. He now works with various platforms, frameworks, and programming languages, including the .NET framework, Python, Scala, Objective-C, and of course, JavaScript. For the past 3 years, Amos has been working with full-stack JavaScript solutions, including Node.js and MongoDB, as well as MVC frontend frameworks, such as AngularJS. In 2013, he created the first popular boilerplate for MEAN applications, MEAN.IO, and currently continues the development of MEAN solutions at http://meanjs.org. He also gives lectures on advanced web technologies at meetups and conferences, and he guides development teams at various companies.

Made Everything Perfectly Clear for Me.

First the negative, not even worth losing any points: The examples are primitive, but I suppose as MEAN is such as vast topic, bootstrap was not a concern.

I truly enjoyed this book. I caution you, that while PACKT PUB may designate this as a beginner book, it is not. I had already laied the groundwork for understanding MongoDB / Express & Node and already have considerable knowledge with AngularJS.

I am usually skeptical about PACKT PUB books based on past experience but this was definitely an exception. I also enjoyed the fact that the author use EJS as I am not a fan of Jade.

He provides some decent example of Mongo but I would recommend reading up on Mongo before had as where this book shines the most is Node & Express.

If you are like me, and seeing the future of development as a one language proposition (JavaScript) and am tired of the sluggishness of Visual Studio and want to see how you can truly develop lightning fact applications with Express and NodeJS, this is the book to keep in your library.

Phenomenal book on MEAN!

Perfectly organized with excellent, concise examples. I've been a software engineer for over 24 years and have taught software engineering at the college level. As such, I've read thousands of technical books. This is by far one of the best I've ever read. If you're interested in learning MEAN, this book is a must have!

Best MEAN tutorial!!!

This is one of the best books out there on MEAN. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!!. Finished first 8 chapters, which contains the meat of MEAN tutorial and was able to implement all the codes given in the book. I have been dabbling with Node stack for the past year or so but this is the first book that puts everything together very nicely. I always had some difficulty with express routes and middleware (proper ordering), this book made it crystal clear. Author has done a wonderful job and this is one of the best book on any programming that I have seen in several years. I didn't find any errors in the code and author explained everything very nicely - I felt like learning from a live person. I bought this title from packt publishing directly on sale but the book is really worth ten times over. Kudos to the author. Other writers for programming books should learn from him. Thank you to the author and I am really honored to be the first one to review this book on Amazon - couldn't wait.

Good Analysis, Then Apply your own Ideas

Mr. Trass presents the concept of the Property Cycle very clearly. This is not exactly a new concept as the cyclical nature of markets has been a major point of study in the price of stocks, bonds, interest rates, and just about everything else.

Note though that the cycles are not quite as even and regular as his diagrams show. You have to make decisions yourself using not only the techniques he describes, but factors that may be unique to your own location.

For instance:

I live in an area where gold mining is the largest industry. When the price of gold starts up, the mines start hiring more people and the availability of houses goes down and prices sky rocket. When the price of gold falls, well would you like a house where the previous owner dropped the keys off at the bank on his way out of town?

Housing is also a factor of other things. What will happen to the value of houses in the new sub-divisions that are 50 miles from down town? What was resonable last year may be quite different with gasoline over $3. Suppose gas goes to $10.

Read what Mr. Trass has to say, he has some very good points and expresses them well, but then modify it to suit your own ideas.

Now why didn't I think of that??

This book is one of my better investments.

I found it very easy to read, logical and very helpful. Although the property cycle is not new Kieran has been able to bring a fresh new way of looking at what is happening in the economic world. He then goes on to show how the information can be applied to a Property investors strategies.

I thoroughly recommend this book to both the old hands and new investors alike.

This book is a must read for new and old investors. It outlines the different stages of a property cycle, how to identify them and what strategies may be suitable at specific times.If you want to avoid getting burnt from your investements then this book is for you.

About the Author
Jon Kieffer Jon Kieffer (MEF-CECP 2.0) is a principle technical writer working for Fujitsu Network Communications since 2001. In a previous academic career spanning 9 years, Jon taught software engineering at the University of Hull, U.K., and mechanical engineering at the Australian National University. Jon holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering and has authored 12 refereed journal articles and more than 30 conference papers in the fields of mechanical and controls engineering. In 2013, the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) recognized Jon as an outstanding contributor for his contributions to the MEF-CECP 2.0 Program.

Ralph Santitoro Ralph Santitoro is a founding member and serves on the board of directors of the MEF where he has held leadership roles in the MEF Technical, Marketing, and Certification Committees. Ralph created the MEF's Carrier Ethernet Professional Certification Program and co-developed the original MEF-CECP exam and the new MEF-CECP 2.0 exam. Ralph was editor of MEF 6, the industry's first Ethernet Services Definitions specification, and authored the MEF's Ethernet Services primer with over 100,000 copies downloaded. Ralph has lectured at over 70 events and has published over 30 papers in the past 10 years on Carrier Ethernet, SDN, Network Virtualization, Cloud Computing, QoS, Network Security, and Mobile Backhaul. 2.0 Certified !!

As of this review (Feb 2014) there isn't a lot of study material out there that exists in a complete comprehensive format to adequately prepare for the 2.0 exam. My 1.0 certification prep was bootcamp based, it was a great experience, but I didn't have that luxury this time. Jon and Ralph's study guide is well written and covers the new material thoroughly. I highly recommend it !!

Due to time constraints and not knowing this book existed until a week before my test date, I was forced to buy the Kindle version. Having the Kindle version was key to my study efforts, I was able to highlight important sections, search for acronyms and key words. I used this highlighted material for my final review before the exam.

Good reference book

Great reference book - but if you only use this it will be hard to follow from cover to cover if you try and read it from start to finish to prepare for your exam. There are some MEF concepts it seems you already need to know prior to starting the first few chapters, but are explained later on. There is a companion introductory book to this that I would recommend for those that are very new to these concepts. I would also recommend the smartphone app that you can pick up for about ten bucks. I passed my CECP 2.0 exam using this book as a part of my studies. Nowadays I use it on a regular basis as a general reference and I think this is where it really shines. Great color diagrams and explanations. Even those that have already certified should buy this if they don't already own it.

The book was a great help for passing the exam

I purchased the book two weeks before the exam. The book was a great help for passing the exam. I had no prior experiences with the MEF specifications. The book provides an excellent overview of architecture framework, service definitions and service attributes, among other topics. I spent over 20 hours on this study guide, and passed the exam with a good score.

One caveat: the book is a study guide for the exam. It is not intended as a book to learn MEF specifications. For that, you need to go to the source - mef.net for detailed specifications.
