Weller prudently retained the Vulgate Psalter for all of the Latin renditions of the antiphons and psalms, while faithful English translations of the various liturgical hymns were rendered by Fr. Matthew Brit, OSB (from his own book, The Hymns of the Roman Breviary and Missal). As stated in the Foreword of his first completed volume (Vol. III in 1946), Fr. Weller compiled his set of The Roman Ritual for the clergy "as a manual and reference" and for the laity's "interest and enthusiasm for the rites and prayers of so important a part of the liturgical books of the Church." His indispensable 3-volume set was especially prized for its thoroughness in treating of the liturgical laws pertaining to each rite, as well as his copious and instructive commentaries. Once very difficult (and expensive) to obtain secondhand, it can now be yours in brand new condition and for a reasonable price!

As I've been reading this text, I find that it was well laid out from its first printing. The reprinted editions contain the same easy-to-read Latin text on the left side and the modern English text on the right side. Contentwise, the book explains theological reasoning and provides a well-formatted layout of the various traditions of the Roman Catholic Rite. In addition to being easily reviewed by the reader, the quality of the binding, cover, pages, and place marker are all very good. It is a good way to delve into the deeper realm and understanding of Catholicism.

I passed the CEHv7 certification test through self-study using only this book as a study guide.

Note that I have *a lot* of InfoSec experience--including CISSP and OSCP certifications--but in my opinion, mastery of the material in this book, including the concepts covered in the end-of-chapter questions and ~ 150 sample test questions on the included MasterExam test, *should* allow you to pass the test.

The book is well-written and concise considering the breadth of material the CEHv7 covers.

I recommend this book for anyone pursuing their CEHv7 certification.

"Miles from Nowhere: A Round the World Bicycle Adventure" will change you in a good way.

"Miles from Nowhere" is my favorite of the several bicycle touring books (and most other books) I have read. The fact that it is my only book that my wife has read is evidence of it worth. After I read it, my wife and I read it out loud to each other and we laughed all the way through it -- and cried at the end. Barbara writes like she thinks and talks, which is refreshing and keeps you wondering -- but more than just wondering what they are going to run into around the next corner. They peddle around the world, making it up as they go, and undergo a lifetime of experiences from marriage crisis, life-threatening encounters, human dramas and wonderful people stories; and, they do it all with 10-speeds before the bicycles and gadgetry caught on. I believe you should read it even if you are not interested in bicycling -- it is that good.

What It Was Like to Ride Around the World in the Late 1970s

Though in places, she seems to percieve local people as complete angels or total nincompoops, there's still a lot to like in this narrative. She's candid about her feelings, throughout, and about the conditions she (and her fellow travelers) encountered in so many places around the world. It's no Pollyanna dreamscape, nor is it a cynical diatribe - it's a revealing exploration of what it was really like for her to ride across the U.S. and through so many different countries nearly 50 years ago.

Purchased this book after reading about it in an Adventure Cycling magazine. Sensational book. The author's description of their bicycle trip around the world was wonderful - never boring! Worth every penny of the purchase price.

Weak Coffee --The Watered Down Version of Hercule Poirot

Dame Agatha created her plays a bit differently than her novels. Based on The Mousetrap and Black Coffee, her plots were simpler, her character development lighter, and her misdirection more obvious. I assume that is because she assumed a different audience for the plays than for the novels.

Nevertheless, the plot is quite elegant in its simplicity and resolution. It is well within the classic English drawing room mystery genre. A secret formula disappears from a safe. The scientist demands its return. He turns the lights off to allow for an anonymous resolution. When the lights come on, he is dead by poison. Hercule Poirot and Hastings arrive in the middle of the incident. Poirot unravels the murder and catches the murderer. The best part of the plot is that one of my favorite techniques is used for the key clue (hint: the same kind of one is in The Hound of the Baskervilles).

My main disappointment was that Poirot does not really flourish as Poirot. He seems watered down, like weakly brewed black coffee. It is as though an imposter is playing his role. The full edge of the arrogance and self-centeredness are not quite there.

A positive side of the novel is that it keeps many of its dramatic elements. You can almost see the action unfolding before your eyes in the same room, as you would in the theater.

If you have read all of the other Agatha Christie novels, then you definitely should read this one.
